8 Reasons For Honoring Our Veterans.
Reason #1. Honor our Veteran.
The Veterans Day Parade is a great opportunity to honor all the men and women who bravely served our country. They are our protectors, warfighters and peacekeepers. We have the chance to say thank you to our veterans.
Reason #2. Thank first responders for protecting us.
We should never forget that first responders risk their lives every day to keep us safe. At the parade, you’ll have the opportunity to thank the first responders from Gulf Coast fire and police departments for their dedication to protecting our community.
Reason #3. Watch dozens of military floats and displays.
From boats to planes to decorative trucks, to cars and buses driving around the streets of Downtown, there is something for everyone to enjoy at the parade.
Reason #4. Salute future military members.
Watch the Junior ROTC cadets from dozens of high schools march in the parade, and salute to the heroes of the next generation. Students who are a part of the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps value the role of the military, learn how to be better citizens for our country, promote community service and instill character and self-discipline.
Reason #5. Watch the patriotic shows of the talented dancers.
Dance groups will be performing in the streets of Downtown during the Veterans Parade. Little dancers from local dance studios to dancers from pro sports teams will be in the parade, putting on a great show.
Reason #6. What’s a parade without the music?
Listen to the sound of the trumpets and the drums and cheer on the bands as they march. Six high school bands will be downtown Nov. 6, and will pay tribute to those who protected us during both war and peace.
Reason #7. Enjoy the beautiful November weather.
It may be a little warm or you might get crispy cool air. Just dress in layers. It’s the the most beautiful time of the year to spend time outdoors with friends and family.
Reason #8. They served us for years and now it’s our turn to honor them.
Veterans left their home, saying goodbye their families and friends to serve for our country. On this honorable day, we get the chance to thank our veterans for all of their years of sacrifices and the time they spent away from their loved ones.
